The Other Film Festival Call for Entries
The Other Film Festival is Australia’s only disability film festival. Since 2004, this biennial festival has screened an international program of outstanding contemporary cinema about the experience of disability. The festival has also held forums on cinema, access and disability-related issues, and has offered entry-level workshops for filmmakers and actors with disabilities. In 2010, the inaugural program of films concerning the experience of being deaf and hard of hearing proved to be enormously popular.
The Other Film Festival is also recognised internationally for its commitment to global-best practice in cinema access. In 2012, all films will be captioned (or subtitled) and audio-described; the festival venue will be fully wheelchair accessible; Auslan interpreters will sign all spoken events; and marketing materials will be produced in a range of alternative accessible formats.
The 2012 Festival will be held over five days in Melbourne in September. It will host Australian and international guest filmmakers, offering professional development opportunities for film practitioners with a disability.
Most importantly, it is guaranteed to be entertaining, provocative and inclusive.
The Call for Entries for the 2012 Other Film Festival is now open.
