Arts & Disabilty Ireland's Website Goes Live!

Welcome to Arts & Disability Ireland's brand new and long overdue website! Over the past few months, we at Arts & Disability Ireland have been busy working with NewGraphic.ie and Sandbox.ie to develop a site that we hope will best support arts practice influenced or inspired by experience of disability.

In our inaugural edition of Spotlight artist Cathy Henderson, playwright Rosaleen McDonagh and dancer Bobby Byrne offer three personal and candid accounts of the ways in which disability has informed their respective arts practice.

For Curated Space, Pádraig Naughton, Director of Arts & Disability Ireland, has selected a number of key texts from ADI's publication 'Face On - Disability Arts in Ireland and beyond'. It features articles by Allen Sutherland, Maggie Hampton, Michael Morgan and Donal Toolan who reflect on the thinking and practices that have shaped disability arts in Ireland and the U.K.

Through the websites Connect section you can sign up to our e-Forum to network with artists and organisations working in the area of arts and disability. Here you can debate and discuss Irish and international arts practice, share articles and post news and information. Connect also provides you with links to Arts & Disability Ireland's profiles on Facebook and Twitter, helping you keep up-to-date with the work of ADI and the wider arts and disability community, both here and abroad.

Our Reading Room offers a wealth of information and resources for those interested in in digging a little deeper. The Resource section offers you information about Arts & Disability Irelands services to the arts sector including Audio Description & Captioning for Live Performance and art-focused Disability Equality Training. The Research area contains key documents, reports and articles of interest covering areas such as equality legislation, cultural policy, access and arts development and our extensive Links directory connects you to the websites of artists, organisations and arts venues in Ireland and abroad.

Above all, we hope you enjoy spending time browsing, contributing and engaging with our website. We welcome any comments and/or suggestions you may have that will help us to improve the information and services we provide online. We are committed to improving our website for you, the user, and your feedback is very much appreciated!

Arts & Disability Ireland gratefully acknowledges the financial support of Pobál in the realisation of this website.

Arts & Disability Ireland would also like to extend a special word of thanks to those who helped and supported us in the development of this website:
