From June 6–12, 2010, VSA—the international organization on arts and disability—will bring together artists, educators, researchers, and policymakers with and without disabilities from around the world for a multicultural celebration of the arts and arts education. The Festival will feature visual, performing, literary, and media artists and a guest list that includes more than 2,000 participants from all corners of the globe. The 2010 International VSA Festival will be the largest arts event featuring artists with disabilities to take place in Washington, D.C., to date.

Following on from the sucess of the first live presentation of Turning Point, an event comprising of a selection of commissioned new writing for theatre by Irish artists with a disability at Project Art Centre on 31st March, Fishamble and Arts & Disability Ireland are delighted to be representing Ireland at the festival this year. Turning Point, an evening of staged readings will be performed on 7th June at the Lansburgh Theatre in Washington D.C. as part of the VSA International Festival. The four playwrights, John Connolly, Rosaleen McDonagh, Steve Daunt and Stephen Kennedy along with a delegation from Arts & Disability Ireland and Fishamble, will make their way to Washington to take part in the Festival and Conference.

Performances and exhibitions will be showcased at venues throughout Washington, D.C. as part of the Festival, including multiple stages at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts; AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center; Atlas Performing Arts Center; The George Washington University Lisner Auditorium; H Street Playhouse; Shakespeare Theatre Company's Harman Hall and Lansburgh Theatre; the Smithsonian Institution's American Art Museum, Discovery Theater, and International Gallery; Union Station; and the U.S. Department of Education.
